Individual Therapy
One on one counseling for women, veterans, and adults navigating trauma, addiction, or stress. Real support to heal and move forward.
At Redbird Counseling and Consulting, we provide trauma-informed therapy and alcohol and substance use counseling for women, veterans, first responders and adults who feel like they’re falling apart inside. Whether you’re struggling to define your relationship with alcohol or other substances, living with PTSD or trauma symptoms, burnout or high stress from the demands of life: healing is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone.
Let’s explore what healing can look like when you’re no longer just getting through the day.

I’m Nicole Michels, LPCC-S, Founder of Redbird Counseling
I specialize in substance use counseling and recovery, trauma therapy and supportive mental health counseling for women, active duty military, veterans and first responders. Many of my clients are mothers, service members or professionals who have spent years holding it together while carrying a heavy emotional load.
I believe therapy should be a place where you don’t have to perform or pretend you're ok. A place where you can set down what you're carrying and focus on you.
My approach is real, collaborative, and rooted in deep respect for your story. I’m not afraid to talk about the hard stuff like shame, addiction, grief, trauma, or anger, and I won’t judge where you’ve been because healing begins with being seen, heard and understood.
You reach for a drink, weed, or something else to quiet your mind, calm your body, or get through the day. It’s worked before, but now it feels like the relief never lasts or even makes things worse. You wouldn’t call yourself an “addict", but deep down, you know something has to change.
You’ve survived things that are hard to put into words—military or on the job trauma, sexual trauma, childhood wounds, or all of the above. You keep moving forward, but those memories still show up in your body, your relationships, and your coping.
You’ve been expected to stay strong, hold things together, and push through. But the constant pressure to perform, provide, or nurture has left you feeling unseen, exhausted, or resentful.
If any of this sounds familiar, Redbird Counseling can help. Together we’ll explore what’s beneath the surface, untangle the patterns that no longer serve you, and build a life that feels more grounded, connected, and whole.
